I was just down in Detroit. Detroit has improved a lot. Yes I did see one guy take a shit on the street but he had a bag and picked it up. LOL.

OMG this is brilliant. How many man holes are on the streets of Detroit? They all come from East Jordan Iron Works, MI. Up north. There are East Jordan manholes all over the United States. How much does each one weigh and that's pure Iron?

These were made in the 1960's they are heavy cast iron.

Anybody ever wonder why they never let blacks use the Homestead Acts to get them out of the South, and instead crammed them onto govt run plantations and into 'contraband camps', which were just POW camps and just as vile and filthy and deadly? Meanwhile they were exporting massive amounts of food while starving black people to death in those camps.

I’ve never said anything racist. Why don’t you call out all the disgusting antisemites we have on this forum?

Those parts are all milled from billets of 360 free machining brass. I don't know any use for them other than a hydrant unless you scrap them at a junkyard, and while they might call out to scrap yards not to take them, all they need to do is have one junk dealer under the cover who looks the other way or take them outside the city.

What is stupid is the hydrants being made with expensive brass (brass has advantages in sealing leaks more easily) that can just be freely disassembled instead of some other metal or by locking the parts in place with a pin, or require some major disassembly to take apart.

Incredible that hydrants are designed so clumsily to be easily taken apart for ease of serviceability rather than security.

Who would know those brass parts were in there but another fireman or water service employee? That is where I'd begin my search for a guilty culprit, ITMT now, every hydrant in the country is now suspect of vandalism needing upgraded with new parts.

FWIW, I figure the brass parts from those 75 hydrants has about an $800.00 scrap value. Not a bad haul for two night's work, and of course, not a single hydrant maker nor city employee ever saw the potential risk.
