'Never mind Sarah Palin and the tricornered hats. The tea-party movement is dominated by conspiracist kooks.'

By Jonathan Kay

"I consider myself a conservative and arrived at this conference as a paid-up, rank-and-file attendee, not one of the bemused New York Times types with a media pass."

"It's a charming act, which makes the tea-party movement seem no more unnerving than the people who spend their weekends reenacting the Civil War. But the 18th-century getups mask something disturbing. After I spent the weekend at the Tea Party National Convention in Nashville, Tenn., it has become clear to me that the movement is dominated by people whose vision of the government is conspiratorial and dangerously detached from reality. It's more John Birch than John Adams."

I really appreciate reporters who can be objective and have no agenda. Oh, and I wish him all the best with that book he just so happens to be writing.

Interesting but curiously consistent. So he too is a conspirator? Seems we have lots. I need to add cynicism to my Musings.

You need to pass that on to the author or do you know him so well you know that to be true? Or are you just a presumptuous ass? Last item most likely.

"Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative." John Stuart Mill

Moral of the story: Dems need to Keep moving leftward.

You need to explain that assumption?

Believe American Pravda, ignore the Tea Parties, just keep believing in the magikal healing properties of Obama's ideology and follow him leftward

I've noted often that Obama is not nearly liberal enough for this democratic socialist.

I was trying to see if there were any Blacks or Hispanics among the participants? did you see any, I can understand speakers or preacher types but I didn't see a single minority person in the crowd. What do you think that means, and if it is the case, why? Are the people with the shitty end of the stick happy, while those with more, are not?

Midcant?.....sounds like something i steped on the other day crossing a lawn....

And that is relevant, how! You are one dumb shit, but since your mind is there already not a far walk.

Note no one addressed whether what the author wrote was a valid picture of the tea party, instead they close their eyes. I have often been amazed at the strange coalitions that form around enemies or foes. The USMB wingnuts defend the wacky conspiratorial nuts because - hm, I guess both being nuts maybe they do have something in common?

"For it is dangerous to attach one's self to the crowd in front, and so long as each one of us is more willing to trust another than to judge for himself, we never show any judgment in the matter of living, but always a blind trust, and a mistake that has been passed on from hand to hand finally involves us and works our destruction. It is the example of other people that is our undoing; let us merely separate ourselves from the crowd, and we shall be made whole. But as it is, the populace,, defending its own iniquity, pits itself against reason. And so we see the same thing happening that happens at the elections, where, when the fickle breeze of popular favor has shifted, the very same persons who chose the praetors wonder that those praetors were chosen." Lucius Annaeus Seneca
