A long-running strike by bin workers, that has left rubbish piling up on Birmingham's streets, will continue after union members "overwhelmingly rejected" the city council's offer in a fresh ballot.

The action by members of Unite, which began on 11 March as part of a dispute over pay, has seen thousands of tonnes of rubbish go uncollected and warnings of a public health emergency.

Hundreds of workers have been on all-out strike for a month, and residents have complained about "rats as big as cats".

I have been self employed in my working life, why should that mean i want employed workers shit on? i remember when P&O shit on workers, i travelled many a time from Hull to Rotterdam on the P&O ferry many of the workers had thirty plus years in then they were all sacked by text one Sunday night and told they could apply for their jobs again under worse pay and conditions, i never used the Company again, any later trips i made i drove South from the North West to use Stena from Harwich, it's people like you who have allowed those Companies to get away with it.

Why should these guys lose up to 8k a year ? The unions just want a guarentee on that but the bosses wont give it.
