Meanwhile: FreightWaves CEO is very concerned.

Japan and China are a NO on trade talks until the stable genius lifts his tariffs.

Trump loving truckers are going through some things.

No worries. Just stock up. Live off your savings the next couple of years. Got to sacrifice for those big beautiful deals.

It's a little difficult to PRICE something when you have NO IDEA what it's going to COST you in the FIRST PLACE.

Then multiply that by all the shipments coming into the country. Everything has to be sorted and tariffs have to be applied. Then the goddamn tariff changes, and you may have already shipped or delivered it.

So what are you forced to do? You have to FREEZE it. You can't move it, because the risk of loss outweighs the loss of income. THEN, the dominoes begin falling through the remainder of the supply chain. Input prices are all over the fuckin' place.

Since Trump is as fucking ignorant as he is, he obviously doesn't know that.

I don't think tariffs are being determined ex post delivery in the US. Future orders could be affected at the wholesale level, but consumer pricing is up to retailers. Since only the landed cost of imports is subject to tariffs, the ultimate pass through to consumers is generally a small fraction of any price increase. For example, an imported item with a landed cost of $10 might be charged a 10% tariff of $1. If the retail price of the item is $40, then the actual cost increase due to the tariff is only 2.5% of the retail price. Retailers who raise their prices by more than this amount do so at their own competitive risk.

As one of the boards many actual truckers, this is total horseshit.

I'm busier than a one armed paperhanger, which is why my posting frequency has cratered.

Yes, drayage and cartage, especially in regards to intermodal trucking, is slowing... but when one sector slows, another surges.

Currently LTL and Specialized trucking is on the increase, and as American manufacturing begins their initial fittouts, the demand for Specialized hauling will increase.
