Billionaire Harlan Crow Bought Property From Clarence Thomas. The Justice Didn’t Disclose the Deal.

It just gets sleazier and sleazier.

In 2014, one of Texas billionaire Harlan Crow’s companies purchased a string of properties on a quiet residential street in Savannah, Georgia. It wasn’t a marquee acquisition for the real estate magnate, just an old single-story home and two vacant lots down the road. What made it noteworthy were the people on the other side of the deal: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his relatives.

The transaction marks the first known instance of money flowing from the Republican megadonor to the Supreme Court justice. The Crow company bought the properties for $133,363 from three co-owners — Thomas, his mother and the family of Thomas’ late brother, according to a state tax document and a deed dated Oct. 15, 2014, filed at the Chatham County courthouse.

Justice Thomas's mother still lives in the House the billionaire bought.

The disclosure form Thomas filed for that year also had a space to report the identity of the buyer in any private transaction, such as a real estate deal. That space is blank.

“He needed to report his interest in the sale,” said Virginia Canter, a former government ethics lawyer now at the watchdog group CREW. “Given the role Crow has played in subsidizing the lifestyle of Thomas and his wife, you have to wonder if this was an effort to put cash in their pockets.”

[snip]

It’s unclear if Crow paid fair market value for the Thomas properties. Crow also bought several other properties on the street and paid significantly less than his deal with the Thomases. One example: In 2013, he bought a pair of properties on the same block — a vacant lot and a small house — for a total of $40,000.
Selling property is "sleazy?" I thought I had heard it all, but another Demwit comes out of the shadows trying to make something out of nothing.

dembots think it is…because they have never been able to purchase property themselves

Is there a Biden that didn't get money from China?
that much we don’t know. it’s possible xiden’s grandchild that hunter had with a stripper, that joe won’t acknowledge and hunter fights paying child support hasn’t gotten any

Oops, Frank is confused again. It was the orange slob that paid more taxes in China than he did in the US.

i have no doubt the xidens failed to pay taxes on their chinese bribes

and they wouldn’t of paid them in china anyway…china was paying them for the work they did here selling this country off

When people want to buy influence over powerful people, they don't do it by publically purchasing property like real estate, in which fair market value can be estimated and pay approximately the fair market value. That would be an incredibly lame bribe.

Like trying to bribe a governor by purchasing his car for Blue Book value.

To purchase influence from powerful people, one does things like paying nearly half a million dollars per piece for the "artwork" of a beginning artist that wouldn't sell for the cost of its materials if it wasn't painted by the crack-addled son of the current president.

Hey dumbfuck, this thread is about property sold by Thomas. Do at least try and keep up.

Plus, a plane and a yacht are not homes of friends.
Hey fucktard racist, hospitality. Try to keep up dumbfuck. The plane and yacht are owned by his friend moron. You have yet to show anything proving your bullshit. As usual.

Come on Frankie, any real estate transaction over $1000 dollars had to be declared....

Why did Thomas break the law? Why didn't he simply declare it? Because he was HIDING IT....why did he hide it? Because then it would have brought attention to his $500,000 vacations paid for by the same republican billionaire donor.

An alleged purpose of dedicating a museum for thomas, as the home he grew up in, while spending thousands on a new remodel, is not preserving the home Thomas grew up in, yet letting Thomas's mother still live in it, is one sweet deal....then also buying two other lots on the same street from Thomas, without declaring those also....

Crooked is, as crooked does.

Someone needs to show the law that Justice Thomas allegedly broke, and proof that he allegedly broke it. Show the text of the law that you think he broke not a link to all the federal regulations.

Otherwise, this is just another online Klan meeting hosted by a retired Imperial Salamander, who would have to stop the push his teeth back in as he leaned over to light the cross.
