The UK government has demanded that Apple install an encryption backdoor so the spooks can read everyone's secure data.

Here's the kicker: the demand applies to ALL APPLE USERS WORLD WIDE, not just the ones in the UK.

This is a very serious abuse by the deep state. It's the same crap they tried to pull on Elon, only at thousands of times the scale.

If Apple tells the UK to fuck off, they lose all UK customers world wide, which includes Australia and Canada.

Apple is appealing, but meanwhile can't say anything to anyone, not even their own users.

If Apple loses the appeal, all encrypted US data will be available to British spies.

The moral of the story is: do your own encryption. Don't depend on Apple or anyone else to do it for you. Because everyone is at risk, not just Apple users. Why aren't Google and Microsoft complaining? You already know the answer.

Britain's big gov is even worse than big gov in the U.S.

This is serious totalitarian bullshit. If Apple concedes, it greatly harms their reputation and they lose a lot of money. Most people cannot do their own encryption, and if they pay for the advanced data encryption, the UK cannot order them to defeat it yet not tell their customers they are not getting what they pay for!

If I were Apple, I'd cut my loses and be proactive, and tell the UK to fuck off and cut the UK, Australia and Canada out of the loop--- end service there. Show them that you cannot extort a data company. This amounts to illegal 4th amendment violation and illegal search and seizure. Tell them that all Apple Users are now shit out of luck if the UK tries to force the issue for a period not less than 5 years. See how they like them apples.

Glad that I never used cloud technology. I saw the writing on the wall long ago.

What top secrets are you hiding?

You'll never know. I designed my computer to have no need of cloud technology. In fact, I could reach inside my case right now and pull one of the hard drives right out, right in the middle of a write operation, and even that would not disrupt or lose a single file.

99.9% of the worlds population has probably got nothing exciting on for any government to get thrilled over.
