What disease has risen in your lifetime? When I was a child, I wasn't even allowed to go to the swimming pool until we had a polio vaccine. I was especially afraid of scarlet fever, because it would leave me with a weak heart and I wouldn't be able to run or play. 30% of children did not live to adulthood.

I also remember literally running out of an apartment viewing when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, now 52. The woman living there apologized for the mess because her daughter had rubella, aka German measles. I was pregnant. Exposure to rubella in the first trimester leads to congenital blindness or deafness. I could not get out of there fast enough.

Since vaccines, polio, rubella, whooping cough, scarlet fever, smallpox, mumps, measles and Tuberculosis have all but disappeared but they're making a comeback because of the anti-vaxx movement.
