Newest data on Pfizer: down to 77% effectiveness EVEN ON HOSPITALIZATION and losing efficacy by the month.
AND YET
The FDA would not recommend boosters!
Gosh, maybe there's a reason no one could make a vaccine for coronaviruses, such as SARS, in the past. Maybe? They're not safe? They're not effective?
Is 77% not enough? We only expected to get 50%....in order to qualify for FDA approval on a covid vaccine.... the flu vaccine is only 60%, and yes, you have to get a shot once a year for it, because of mutations.... And it only protects at 60% for just 6 months....if the flu was not just seasonal, and did not die off in the summer, people would need two flu shots a year for the 60% protection. Covid is a year round virus, not just seasonal....like the flu.
The BOOSTER SHOT WILL BE GIVEN to those with waning antibodies, (those over 65, those with risk conditions....) Per their doctor's orders is what I heard... So that it won't be Willy nilly.....won't be anyone just walking in.... I'm ok with that...for now.
I got the Moderna, and so far, so good....
What makes you think the same scientific community who create vaccines and anti virals etc, have given you a safe drug with this monoclonal antibody treatment? Why are you supporting this, while not vaccines?
Monoclonal antibodies are antibodies created in a test tube, that fight off covid when you get it infused.... So you don't need your own immune system to attack covud, your body uses these temporary antibodies to fight the virus.... A modern miracle, medical advancement, just like MRNA Vaccines....
BUT, what should be of concern, is that your own body is NOT creating its own natural antibodies to fight off covid, just these cloned test tube antibodies, that dissolve, dissipate....
....so you are not protected from any future infection....not for one month in the future.... You can catch covid again, and get sick again because you didn't use your own developed antibodies and immune system to cure yourself....like with catching covid and letting your own antibodies develop to fight it off.
As with all vaccines...the Covid vaccines trick your immune system, in to thinking you have a mild case of covid, so your own immune system creates your own antibodies to fight covid off....these antibodies against covid, that your body created, gives your body a head start, on fighting off covid, near ever time you may catch it...which for the most part, prevents hospitalization and death...
The vaccinated are 11 times more likely to prevent severe sickness and/or death 7 months from vaccination, than those who are unvaccinated that are catching covid for the first time.
Monoclonal antibodies made in the lab, gives you just two weeks of antibody protection fighting off covid.
So what if you need a booster shot for new variant mutations every 6 months to a year, before they wane?
Plus, when those vaccinated get infected with covid, they may be creating additional antibodies that last longer, without being hospitalized with severe sickness to get their bodies to create them from the real virus infection.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for giving monoclonal antibodies if you're infected and are at risk of severe infection, without full FDA approval, without knowing the long term side effects....
But, every which way but loose....the vaccine antibodies created are a thousand times better, than the lab created antibodies that give you antibody help for just two weeks max.
One costs $2000 a pop on the open market, the other costs $19.50.
One lasts a week or two, the other 7 months or so.
