Joe Biden boarded Air Force One early on Sunday morning for a somber visit to Uvalde, Texas, after 19 children and two teachers were shot dead inside an elementary school classroom there last week.
Biden: 'As a nation, we have to ask, when in God's name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby? When in God's name will we do what we all know in our gut needs to be done?'
'I am sick and tired of it. We have to act. And don't tell me we can't have an impact on this carnage. I spent my career as a senator and vice president working to pass common sense gun laws,' he said.
It comes after his Vice President Kamala Harris called for a ban on assault weapons in the wake of back-to-back mass shootings.
'Let’s have an assault weapons ban. An assault weapon is a weapon of war with no place, no place in civil society,' Harris said.

The Bidens arrived in Texas late on Saturday morning for their all-day visit to Uvalde, Texas in the wake of the horrific shooting last week that took the lives of 19 children and two teachers.
