In a Republic, actually
‘President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are locked in a very tight race in Texas, with Trump receiving 44 percent of the vote and Biden receiving 43 percent in a general election matchup, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Democrats go for Biden 90 - 5 percent, independents do the same 45 - 36 percent, and Republicans go for Trump 87 - 6 percent.

Voters say 54 - 40 percent that Trump would do a better job handling the economy, but say 49 - 43 percent that Biden would do a better job handling health care. Voters are split on who would do a better job handling the response to the coronavirus, as 47 percent say Biden and 45 percent say Trump.

"Too tight to tell in Texas. As the country confronts chaos and COVID-19, perhaps one of the most important states of all is a toss-up," said Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy.’

Trump is in serious trouble if he must play defense in NC, AZ, and Texas.

Well, that clinches it for me. I guess I'll have to vote for Sloppy Joe instead of Trump. I really wanted to see Trump get reelected. But I know in my heart that Sloppy Joe will save America. How could have been so blind?

Instead, like always, you will just go fishing and drink beer. Probably for the best.

AZ maybe. NC Maybe. Texas isn't smart enough to be a blue state.

As the population shifts from white and the exodus from blue states, Texas has been inching closer and closer to blue.

Trump was never neck and neck with Hillary and still beat her soundly....Biden should just concede the election now and be done with all of the pain....because if the fake news polls are saying its neck and neck now in June......its going to be a mega Fing landslide victory for Trump.....

Weren’t you the one who said Trump would have to resign or commit suicide when the Senate removes him?

Maybe in 2028. Good signs in the Austin, Houston, Dallas suburbs though in 2018 US Senate race though.

I remember all 5000 posts you made about how Hillary was gonna win in a landslide. You had to eat some major shit after the election. To your credit you owned up to it, at least with me.

I would caution you to chill. Joe Biden is your guy, and he's 3 quarters short of a full load. The polls do not mean shit right now. I know you hate Trump, but don't get too far out over your skis. Just a friendly word of advice. :)

p.s. See my sig.

Do we need to drag out the Rachael Maddow video of her saying "it was a tie in S.C. ?".

The election is six months away and Trump will destroy Biden by then.

Trump did not beat Clinton soundly. He narrowly won Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. Flip those states and it is over. However Trump is going to have to fight for Texas, Arizona, Ohio and Texas. Maybe even Georgia. Trump has only a narrow lead in Utah and Ohio. No state that Hillary Clinton won seems likely to flip.

The people that have been moving into Texas are better educated and more moderate. We have seen that throughout the South. Ronald Reagan had a solid south behind him in 1980 and 1984. Now Virginia is a blue state. North Carolina is a swing state. South Carolina used to be a 60%+ red state. Now it is a 53% red state. Georgia is becoming a swing state. Florida is a swing state.

Candidates matter. For example...the graphics I posted a few posts ago are ones I DO NOT expect to be duplicated in Cornyn's race this November. Cruz and O'Rourke were both very good campaigners. I couldn't tell you who is running against Cornyn this fall and I follow TX politics since I grew up there.

If Texas Democrats do want to hang their hat on something in 2020 it is this:

1591252633372.png

In a midterm, usually there is less turnout than there is in a general election. Keep that in mind. Again...you'll probably see higher numbers in 2020 than you saw in 2018.

Now, in the Texas Counties listed above, you see the larger dots in Houston, SA, Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin, Brownsville/McAllen down in the South, El Paso and Lubbock. The bigger the dot, the higher the turnout over 2014--the last midterm. Now...how did those more active voters vote?

1591252826890.png

Again, in 2020, you should see a higher turnout than 2018. I doubt Texas will flip blue but if the DEMs can be excited about one thing (nobody is excited about Biden)...the base of the Democrats seems fired up by the blob and turnout reflects it.

Candidates make races. Sometimes, it's a positive thing and sometimes it's a negative thing.

Universities of bastions of liberal lunacy. their polls are responded to by professors who propagate this looney BS, and students who are duped by it. Others are outside the university walls, but still attached to its mentality just by seeing the word "university.

Results of these JOKE polls are about as accurate as most polls were just before election 2016.

Biden never led Texas.

We all knew that these claims were lies and that the race "would tighten" through August, with the race all tied up by Labor Day.

Well, lo and behold!

Biden has less than 60% Black support. I guess his racism isn't going over well.

I don't understand why anyone would trust trump with our economy.

We did and look at the mess it's in.

When we trusted Biden with our economy he and Obama saved us from another republican Great Depression. They created the longest job creation in history.

All trump did was inherit an already healed and good situation. Then did what he did with the inheritance he got from his dad, destroyed it.

I trust trump to destroy our economy even more than he has thus far.

Obama/Biden gave us the worst recovery in the history of the Republic. Trump gave us the lowest Black and Hispanic unemployment EVER. Even after the steepest GDP contraction EVER RECORDED, Trump already has our employment below Obama/Biden's average for their first term.

Trump's current quarter is in the neighborhood of 30% annualized growth. That somewhere around 6 TIMES, Obama/Biden's best quarter.

Trump's MUCH BETTER on the Economy.

You know it.
I know it.
The American People know it.
