The USA didn't lose 2.5 million jobs. The tech sector had layoffs but the nation didn't lose those jobs. The employment market is so hot that these workers were able to pick up other jobs very easily.

Unemployment claims went DOWN which is indicative of the fact that no jobs were lost at all.
