This shit is getting beyond stupid. First, if the border could be shut down simply by executive order, why didn't Trump do it? The Trump administration even complained that Congress wouldn't take action.

The problem is, now Congress has, the most significant action on immigration in a generation. It addresses the real issues, efficient and timely processing of asylum claims, the end of detain and release, real funding for a WALL, for increased enforcement, and the ability to effectively close the border when inflows are too high.

And make no mistake about it. This is about preserving an election year issue for Donald Trump. And mark my words, if he is elected, if Congress and the Senate goes to the Republicans, no legislation as significant as the current bill will be passed. Bank on it. They can pretend that they are simply allowing perfection to be the enemy of the good, but I, and honestly, most Americans know better.

Not really comprehending why Putin wants it. But the ship has sailed. We could have, and maybe should have, let Ukraine go and give Putin what he wanted, let him deal with the problem. But we didn't, and most of the responsibility for that lies with the IMF.

So now, we are stuck with the decision we made. Giving Putin free rein here only encourages China to take Tawain. Ukraine is only the beginning. A, loss there will facilate continued aggression by our enemies. We made our decision, and if we can't continue to support that decision we lose our position as a world leader.
