False convictions happen. All the time.

But death Penalty convictions are Rock Solid these days.

We;ve had 200 people exonerated from Death row and another 22 who were executed but are now believed to be innocent. Not sure how you can say that with a straight face.

It's borderline criminal, in my opinion, and a gross abuse of the presidential pardon system. Pardons exist to correct injustices, not to do special favors or play politics with people's lives. This is pure sociopathy.

Sentencing people to death is an injustice.

The rest of the civilized world has abolished the Death Penalty.

Here's the reality. Between 1976 and 2020, only 3 Federal inmates were executed. One of those being Timothy McVeigh, who killed 168 people. Then Trump started popping them off like party favors.

I would point out that the use of the pardon power by US Presidents has seldom been to correct an injustice..and more often used to pardon your cronies.
It is a political act...pure and simple.
I would do away with the pardon power entirely--but it's not likely to happen.

This is utterly disgusting. The difficulty of getting the death penalty imposed along with the amount of time and money required to see it through is utterly disgusting.

These pieces of shit should be dead 24 hours after their last appeal is lost or denied. The fact that there were 40 of them still alive is a slap in the face of their victims.

I wonder if the current occupants would have done this for someone who had killed one of his own children. Somehow I doubt it.
