Biden announces $5 billion$ to give to cities for bike paths, wider sidewalks

Just depends. I think trying to carve a new bike lane out of an existing width street (as my city has done) is just stupid. However, my city has also done an extensive trail system over the last 25 years or so that is actually quite nice and scenic. It adds a lot of value and gets a lot of pedestrian/bike/skate traffic.

Which is fine if it's funded by local taxpayers of a city, county or state using the voting process. But the federal government should not be putting us deeper into debt for scenic bike paths and kissing up to environmentalists for their votes. Since the Communists took over Congress it's been nothing but vote buying using our tax dollars just like they did with Commie Care.

Maybe when we have an all American government again, the Republican can provide all Americans with a free quality firearm and see how the commies will scream bloody murder over that.

LOL. My city was as conservative as it could be when it started this project and is now not exactly liberal but getting more open-minded. This isn't about environmentalists. It is about making it a more desirable place to live which in turn makes it a more desirable place for businesses to locate in.

Oh please, it's all about kissing up to the environkooks. More people riding bikes means less cars on the road. Less cars on the road means smaller carbon footprints.......at least in theory.

We have bike paths here as well. Voters vote on them and they increase our taxes, but at least it's done at a local level. Howedver we are not 30 trillion in debt heading for bankruptcy either. Our country is, and this frivolous spending is putting us on the fast track to insolvency. Once we can no longer repay the interest on the money we're borrowing, the country collapses because nobody will lend us a dime at that point. That means no more Medicare, no more Social Security, no more anything.

Just because Cleveland does it for environmentalists doesn't mean everywhere does. Ours very much arose out of an economic development study that eviscerated our city leaders for our lack of many things, including recreational activities. It also gave rise to the local War on the Poor in the name of "blight reduction" that has done little more than spread crime throughout the city by breaking up the hoodiest parts of the city.

It is not coincidental that the least successful in this country vote for Democrats. The majority have little to no understanding of economics in the real world. They think in the short term and live day to day, thus they are open to virtually any idiotic idea proposed by the party that promises them spending money for the week. Sad, but true.

There's tons of poor rednecks who prove you wrong. Along with all the liberal Hollywood types, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, that kid who owns Facebook, Elon Musk, and the entire state of Mississippi.

You are simply wrong. Ultra-elites aside, as income increases, as does the likelihood of voting Republican. Drive through a very poor area and the odds of it being blue are very high.

Maybe it should $10 billion so you can bitch twice as much.
Maybe when Trump gets back in--he fires the FBI Heads who have been protecting the swamp and hires investigators to tract down where all this money is really going---tossing all who are ripping off the system with criminal charges--putting their asses and their staff in prison while seizing their assets.
