I find it impossible to choose as most any on your list might qualify as you never defined what you meant by "best."
Best money maker? Best first weekend grosser? Most favorite movie script? Had the best special effects?
It all depends on your priorities and weighting system.
Me, its a close call between Blade Runner, Matrix, and T2, Blade Runner was my personal favorite for best overall story and screenplay, Matrix was probably the biggest box office hit, and T2 was probably the best sequel with the most anticipated special effects.
T2 or Matrix
Like I said, Matrix was big. Keanu Reeves, Fishburn. The firm was built around a new computer animation technique. But T2 was seismic--- Huge stars like Arnold and Linda Hamilton, based upon already established and very popular characters and storyline. Add to that the introduction to CGI morphing technology.
T3 was OK, they had a naked terminator in it, but so much of the rest of it was simply a retake on the same filmatic vehicles used in T1 and T2. I never saw T4, 5 or 6. I saw a little of Terminator Genyses and was not impressed.T3 - T6 really sucked !!
Yeah, M2 was OK as far as sequels go, but M3, I generally fall asleep watching it.Matrix 2 was ok but part 3 sucked
All of those were good.District 9, Terminator, Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, The Fifth Element, The Thing (1982)...
So many...
