Being OLD sucks

Thought I would hate 50, not even close. I'm now 56 and I know I'm very fortunate to have a body that still works.

I'm a lot older Sue and believe me, while part of me would like to be 20-30 years younger again to have the energy and mobility I once had, in the final analysis, I would never want to go back 20-30 years and be limited only to what I knew and was aware of 20-30 years ago.

Ultimately, what you know and learn in life has far more value than anything else.

At every stage of life a person thinks they know and are hep to most everything, then they grow older and learn that they have only begun to learn.

I am 76, and the average lifespan for people born in my year (1949) is 67. Hence, I am probably dead.

As time goes by, the things we can do slowly shrink. For men, the sports we can play without hurting or embarrassing ourselves shrinks, year after year, which is the main reason why Pickle-*******-Ball is becoming so popular. Even a Crip can play that stupid game. I can still golf, bowl, ride a bike, and in fact one thing that is mildly comforting is that I still have a lot of good rounds of golf, bowling games, and long rides in my future. In fact, I'm on a bunch of Geezer Biking FB groups and some of those old bastards are riding CENTURIES(!) on occasion.

The perverse part of it is that now I have money that I didn't have when I was younger, and I might have enjoyed life more if I had had it then.

Filling one's retirement days well is a challenge.

I think I'll take a nap.

I haven't picked up a golf club in about 15 years--not because I couldn't, just lost all of my golfing partners. LOL, I visited my brother this summer and he invited me golfing which I declined because of the length of time without playing. The next day we went to a place called Top Golf in Tampa and he talked me into a couple swings after which he said, "sure glad you didn't go yesterday." I nodded in agreement. I still do some physical work and snow ski often in the winter so I'm in pretty fair shape, but not capable of doing everything I could do when younger.

Other than stiffness in my hips from arthritis, I feel great at 68. Stretching and yoga helps. I golf, hike and perform at open mics. My driver swing speed average is 95 mph. BP and blood work is all good. So just those dang hips, I'll probably have them replaced if and when they get painful.

WTF, you ain't even old. I would consider you young, just getting old enough and coming of an age to begin understanding what life is all about.
True. I have only recently figured out why I am the way I am (or was the way I was).
