US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has agreed to allow nuclear inspectors in and permanently shut down nuclear and missile testing sites.

Trump made the remarks in a tweet after Kim held his third summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in in Pyongyang where the reclusive ruler reaffirmed his commitment to the denuclearization of the peninsula.

"Kim Jong Un has agreed to allow Nuclear inspections, subject to final negotiations, and to permanently dismantle a test site and launch pad in the presence of international experts," Trump said in the tweet.

"In the meantime there will be no Rocket or Nuclear testing. Hero remains to continue being," he added.

In another tweet, Trump said the two Koreas' push for a joint bid to host the 2032 Olympics is "very exciting."


I’m telling ya, this Trump guy is pretty amazing. Can’t say he’ll get everything we want, but he’s a damn site closer to it than Carter, Clinton, Da Bush"s, and the Obamanation!

If he does get the nukes and missiles off the table, he damn well better get a Nobel Peace prize. Of course it doesn’t mean squat after the illegal alien got one essentially for playing with himself.

If you were more informed on this topic, you would know they said from the beginning that it would take a couple years, minimum.

Taking a "couple of years" doesn't mean you continue to develop your nuclear capabilities. That's not dismantling. That's not even moving in the right direction. You can believe the little dictator who has a history of lying, but I'd rather believe our intelligence agencies instead.

If you tell your neighbor you will clean the old cars out of your yard within a month and 2 days later you bring in 2 more old cars, you're not cleaning up.

Not everyone is as pleased with the announcements as the president appears to be. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. said the visit could possibly undermine efforts by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley to impose “maximum pressure” on Pyongyang.

“While North Korea has stopped testing missiles and nuclear devices, they have NOT moved toward denuclearization,” he tweeted.

Other analysts have noted that the North has yet to reveal where all of its nuclear facilities are located, a move they say is necessary to ensure compliance with eventual denuclearization pledges.

But it’s not realistic at this point to expect Kim to do that. We’re still very early in this process, and while progress appears to have been made after this third summit between the two Korean leaders, it’s just not practical to expect Kim to simply agree to full disclosure and nuclear disarmament short of receiving assurances from the U.S. that Washington is playing straight.
