People convicted of a federal misdemeanor are not sent to a regular prison where inmates with felony convictions are housed.
Usually they are given probation and or community service for a first time offense.
If they are sentenced by the judge to serve time.
It will be at a minimum security facility commonly referred to as "club fed" because of lax security and nice amenities, or a half-way house in the local community.
