Sure, once you convince me the gun owner isn't a crazy person, or someone who is likely to shoot his wife because she burned the pot roast or the neighbor kid who got the address wrong, I'll be all for that.

It should be harder to get a gun than it is to get a mortgage.

When I got a mortgage in 2021, it took about 30 days, and they investigated every aspect of my financial life, even though at the time I was carrying no credit card debt, had never had a bankruptcy, and had previously discharged three mortgages and two Home Equity loans. (The sticking point was that I hadn't sold my old place yet.)

When I applied for a FOID card, I sent them $11.00 and a picture.
