Baltimore County Public Schools Suspends Student for Asking Question

The only thing public school teachers worry about is their pension
Like the ones that believe that the three best things about teaching are June, July and August, they do exist. However there are those that truly believe their responsibility is to the proper education of their charges and not marxist indoctrination.

There are bad employees is all occupations. That doesn't mean the majority are bad. You do have the chance to quit your current job and become a teacher. Be part of the solution. Andbifbyoyre against pensions well decline yours.

Nice try. I'm retired and no, I wouldn't touch that job with a ten-foot pole. Teachers are screwed if they do and screwed if they don't. If they teach junior properly, some fringe lunatic will take them to task because they aren't teaching the lunacy and if they lose it and teach the lunacy, the rest of us will be calling for their heads. I am intimately acquainted with the profession and you can have it.

If only he had exercised his right of room to destroy they would have applauded

Unfortunately (which I disagree with) the courts have ruled that students do not have full 1st Amendment rights in school. Generally that is ruled on to keep peace in the classroom. I'm not sure that will apply here.

He did skip school but he is 18. I'm not sure they can get him there either.

It says he was due a hearing which doesn't seem to have happened.

Now there could be a huge piece of this story missing but if not, he likely has a good case.
Students who are 19 usually must sign themselves out when they leave campus.

US Marine commit and Baltimore County High School Senior got suspended 7 days for questioning why American Flags were not in every classroom. The Liberal Fascists that run the school board didn’t like being held accountable.

He questioned authority and got suspended for it. But, the school board quietly put American flags back in the classrooms in question.
This young man will make a fine Marine. 🇺🇲🌎⚓
Liberals are fascists. When they are held accountable or questioned, they retaliate by “punishing their enemies”.

I’m willing to bet that these same fascists that suspended the Marine commit over lack of an American Flag were to be questioned by LBGTQ or pro-Hamas as to why there were no flags for them, there would be flags the next day..

They can't without violating student privacy. FERPA is the applicable law.

Which section of FERPA prevents the school district from making a statement about what happened without any personal information or the name of the student?

That school board has a lot to answer for.

Look it up. I was a school administrator and very familiar with the rules regarding the release of student information. It is their disciplinary record and not for public consumption. You would either have to have his permission, or if under 18, his parent's permission to release that data.

Remember back when people were bitching that they would not release candidate's college transcripts, specifically Obama's? That was the reason. They are banned by federal law unless he authorizes release. That's why you must sign a release to send your transcripts to potential employers. I did it hundreds of times. I had to sign for my daughter's transcripts to be sent because she was 17 when she mailed out her college applications. Been that way for decades.

So, you can't provide the section preventing a statement about what happened without any personal information or the name of the student. Got it.
