Bakers fined for not working homosexual "wedding" continue fighting for their freedoms

I still fail to see the "horror" in baking a cake that will be used at a gay wedding

Does the local liquor store get to deny service?
The guy selling them pork chops?
The guy who sweeps up afterwards?

For crying out loud!

Stop whining and bake the ******* cake

For crying out loud, stop whining and pay the ******* tithe!
They were already blackmailed for the money....just because you lose a battle doesn't mean you give up trying to win the war.

They broke the law and were held accountable

The law as applied is idiotic. You are arguing the how and not the why, because supporting the why makes you look like fascist dill-hole.

I think the fines are excessive, but the bakery is aware of the consequences and chooses to break the law anyway

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone....is no longer allowed in this country

We don't serve colored, we don't serve jews, we don't serve gays is no longer allowed

If the bakery wants to continue to violate local business laws and pay the fines, that is their right

it should be allowed if the only consequence is a battle of butt-hurt.

and this isn't "not serve gays", its "we don't want to serve you for this one very specific thing", and also "there are plenty of other people who would love to serve you".

You want everyone to be like you, think like you, act like you, OR ELSE. Maybe that's why our country is so fucked up and divided now.

That isn't freedom. That is you getting your way, and **** them in the pie-hole.

And yes, there was actual economic harms when Jim Crow laws forced blacks to shop only in certain stores. The real harm was in them not owning any stores, and being at the mercy of whatever white proprietor decided to open his store on the other side of the tracks.

None of which is applicable to the modern situation, where people have plenty of equal options to go to.

The point is we no longer tolerate a business to tell people to "find other options" on the basis of race, religion, sex or sexual orientation

That is the LAW...if a business chooses to ignore it, they can face the consequences

The Government is telling them they can't

When making a person butt hurt is fined over $100k, it is the government telling them they can't. Stop trying to hide that fact from yourself.

And thank you for making my point that this is nothing more than one person's butt hurt over another's, nothing more.

Nope. Employing someone isn't owning them. Neither is patronizing their business. It's simply a financial agreement. An employer pays me if I do what they ask. A customer does likewise. But I'm under no obligation to serve either against my will, other than via these fucked up laws.
So...get those "fucked up laws" repealed. Get to it. Chop! Chop!

I'm working on it. You always say that like you think I'm not - like you think you're making some clever point. But I'm not quite sure what it is. Are you suggesting I'm being hypocritical or something? I really don't get your angle here.
She's just wasting your time as she whines about her right to make you accept her dysfunctional lifestyle.
You don't have to accept jackshit, you have to obey the law. The same as everyone else.
There is no law that overcomes my liberties to practice my religion and seek to fulfill my own happiness in this country no matter how hard you attempt to twist them. If running my own business and practicing my religion offends you too bad.

So Joe Smith's religion calls for human sacrifice. That's what makes him happy in this country. Guess that's okay with you because his religion calls for it, right?

I think the fine is excessive for the violation

But they were aware of the consequences and chose to violate the law anyway. That is the way things are with martyrs

It has nothing to do with "butt hurt" and everything to do with the right to not be discriminated against

The fine was keeping in line with other fines levied for similar violations.

Which is countered by the right to free exercise of religion. and if you go by strict constitutional rights, only the government is really banned from discriminating, not private people.

They are free to exercise their religion...their business is not

Religions contain all kinds of bizarre requirements and doctrines. Just because you adhere to one of those religions does not mean you can push it on the public

Render unto Caesar is fine when it came to things everyone can agree on

If everyone had been agreeing, Jesus would have not had any need to teach such a lesson.

The point is that when you get into punishing crap that a lot of people don't think should be punished, especially when the only outcome is hurt feelings, you have to re-think why you are doing this in the first place.

That is contradictory to Jesus' teachings.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone....is no longer allowed in this country

That's exactly the problem. It's a bad precedent. That right should be restored. No one should be forced by law to serve someone else.
