The problem is, that it's not their "worst fear". Their worst fear is to be "conventionally" discriminated, abused and genocided by the Europeans. That's what the Europeans did in centuries (Germans in XX century, French in XIX century, Swedens in XVIII century, Poland in XVII century, etc), and what they (from the Russian point of view) continue to do in XXI century.
So, if you really want to defend Europeans whatever they are doing (including discrimination, abuse and genocide of Russians) - it's the direct way into a large scale war against the Russians. The war that we can't win (at least now), and barely can survive as a population.
