Her father died because he worked in a factory before it was known that asbestos was dangerous. This happened to many people. It's awful that it happened, but the people weren't noble or courageous for working in a factory. They had no idea there was a risk, nor did anyone else back in the 1940s. The guy was just doing the ordinary thing and trying to earn a living. He was probably glad to have a decent job after living through the Great Depression.

Lots of people died of illnesses related to breathing in asbestos which was used in those factories... He was working for the war effort - making the munitions to be used by US troops fighting the Nazis in Germany. He was part of the war effort, he died of a related illness.... he died because of his work. She is right.

Well, I don't see how it's technically a lie, is all.

She most definitely embellished.....but the difference between an embellishment and a lie is a subtle one, but alas a difference. I just like keeping things, you know, truthful.

If you are sweating in a factory making bullets which go on in their lives to kill Nazi's, an EMBELLISHED argument could be made that you're fighting towards killing them. It's not a lie, but it's quite an embellishment. Just my two cents.

I'll also add that it is a distasteful embellishment ..... in-that he wasn't knowingly risking his life to do what he was doing -->but our soldiers on the front lines were.

That he died due to factory conditions doesn't make him noble, unless those conditions were known at the time to have these medical effects.
