best historical documentary narrator as well. rip. i don't know how many he's written, but i have like 10 of his books

Though I did find his Civil War works a bit on the pedestrian side.....Sort of the point I guess, hit the high points for the general public without getting too far in the weeds.
 
A show on him had a funny segment. While being interviewed he talked about how people kept stopping to talk to him when out in public. The film crew then showed a compilation of him walking up to strangers on the street saying ‘Hi, I’m David McCullough’ and getting into a conversation with them. He loved people.
