“Rumors spread on social media that the Proud Boys, a pro-Trump group known for participating in street brawls, would appear at the rally. The rally’s organizer, Philip Anderson, has identified himself on social media as a member of the Proud Boys.”

I have a feeling that this rally was an attempt by the Trump campaign (or Russians) to stir up publicity against counter-protesters who he likes to label “AntiFa”, and associate those violent bullies with peaceful protesters who support Biden.

Smear campaign by the right? Likely.
