Austin Fire Chief in trouble.

Fire chiefs aren't in a union. Do better!

Austin does indeed have a fire fighter's union.

The Austin firefighters union said Tuesday it will hold a vote of no confidence in the fire chief this week, accusing him of preventing crews from being deployed ahead of historic flooding that killed over 100 people in Kerr County.

Bob Nicks, president of the Austin Firefighters Association, said questions about deployment came in on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of potential flooding. The department didn't deploy firefighters until after the Guadalupe River surged early Friday.

"Our guys sat on their asses while they're hearing people [are] dying," Nicks said Monday.

...

Baker confirmed to KUT News that he told executive staff in early June to hold off on deployments for the rest of the fiscal year, but that he didn't intend for that policy to be a full stop on any deployment whatsoever.

If they got rid of that fire chief, they'd only appoint another liberal yes-man. If Texas ever needed an enema, Austin is where they'd stick it.
I thought it had just received one. And it was nowhere near seats of government.

Funny that.

Thank you for context.

Let’s break this down. They asked ahead of time for rescue swimmers and Austin deployed them no questions asked. There was an assistant fire chief who couldn’t go and a dispatcher who had no one to cover her shifts in Austin so they couldn’t send. The life saving staffing was sent and the only two who didn’t were minor roles.

This is a thread because you guys are pieces of shit.

A reminder, there are more than twenty missing or dead in Travis County. Tend to your own first.

An excellent question. Only 50,000 people live there full time. That may be part of it.
Its beautiful country

The entire budget is under $50 million a year

But they are salt-of-the-earth Texans

after this tragedy I bet they find the money somewhere even if government employees have miss a pay raise next year

The state is going to pay for it. There is already a special session called.
It is beautiful country. thats why there are so many camps and parks there.

IF I am not mistaken, The governor has already authorized it from his current budget. I expect this to go in fast.

Potentially. This is for a larger long term solution.
Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday unveiled a jam-packed agenda for the upcoming special legislative session, calling on lawmakers to redraw Texas’ congressional maps and address several unfinished conservative priorities from earlier this year.

The governor, who controls the agenda for overtime legislative sessions, also included four items related to the deadly Hill Country floods over the July Fourth weekend, directing legislators to look at flood warning systems, emergency communications, natural disaster preparation and relief funding for impacted areas.

The flooding has killed more than 100 people, with more than 160 still missing in Kerr County alone.

I hadn't seen the legislative proposal for all of Texas. Abbott is making this a state run responsibility taking locals out of the control of it.

Well, we shall see what actually happens. They could even tie something to the LCRA or such as part of their lake management efforts.
