At the end of November I got depressed and started drinking alcohol a lot.

That was a very bad decision, but I was very depressed! I was terribly stressed throughout the Summer and all of the Fall. At first I had terrible anxiety about becoming an alcoholic.

You can not really blame me -- watching Gore lead Bush by 5-10 points was a great stress. Still no winner by the end of November.

Fortunately, with the help of my parents, I stopped drinking very quickly, and did not become an alcoholic. Here I am -- 22 Novembers later.

I'm glad you came around. Laying off the bottle is a wise decision. God made us imperfect but perfectly defiant and hopefully able to cope.

Enjoy sobriety.

why throw out perfectly good beverages?

If you cannot abstain when they are around, then toss them. But if you can drink just one or 2, why throw them out?
I am prohibited from drinking since I take Effexor.

I find that a little Jack gets me through the holidays but I don't whine about it.
