At least 71 shot, 9 fatally

Right.

And we should hold gun stores accountable when they sell to crazy people civilly.
Most nutty people are able to act normal when they need to. Also, most nutty people are actually quite harmless.

The largest group of gun 'victims' are suicides, and while some cases are quite problematic most are understandable based on the history of the individual. Interestingly more women are choosing guns to commit suicide. This means they are bypassing the 'call for help' attempts and opting for finality.

Like most important matters neither the public nor lawmakers have enough factual information to make good decisions about gun violence. All data is immediately handed over to statisticians who fashion it into confusing gobbledygook that no one can understand.

So if we start doing background checks, with people who know them, they will pick out the crazies or even the slightly suicidal.

So let's do a complete study.

Tally up all gun deaths.

Suicides 23,000
Accidents - 800
Murders - Gang related - about 2000
Police killings. About 1000
Murder - Justified Homicide (not including police) about 200.
Murder - other street crime ????
Murder - Domestic violence ????

The last two are the really good question. If it's mostly domestic, then the arguments for guns being needed for protection kind of fall flat.

A complete study would be a review of the details of each case. That's where the answers lie. Gross statistics are great political talking points but are of little value in policy making. That's why we don't really have effective policies to address gun violence.

We don't have effective policies because the NRA fights even the most common sense legislation tooth and nail.

Illinois doesn't have strict gun laws. I wish we did.
LMAO! Your state is #3 after California and New York for "strength of gun control"!
If that's not enough for you, you should leave the U.S. altogether and try China or Korea.

Uh, guy, I applied for a FOID card here in IL. Do you know what their "rigorous" gun control was?

They charged me $11.00 and had me fill out a form. And just like that, I have a FOID card.

Compare that to the hundreds of pages of documentation I had to provide to get a home mortgage, apply for my current job, or sponsor my wife for residency in the US.

thats to much red tape for the gun,, you shouldnt have had to do any of it,, and you should have paid cash for the house,,

I'm happy with sensible mortgages. I mean, you might long for the days of tenements where only the rich owned homes, but I'm happy with what we have now.

What is your basic malfunction that you want to fuck the working class? I doubt you're rich.

We don't have enough red tape for the gun, that's the problem. That's how Awake the Rapper and Joker Holmes get guns and cause mayhem.

We still have to take off our shoes at the airport because 20 years ago, one yutz tried to light up some C-4 in his shoes.

A little red tape to get guns out of the hands of mass shooters isn't a bad idea.

OK so make criminals go through the red tape and leave the rest of us alone,,

I do agree mass shooters shouldnt have guns,, they should already be in jail and last I heard they dont sell guns in prison,,

California has had a supermajority Democrat control for decades.

Every ‘smart’ gun control law is on their books.

Yet California has one of the highest gun violence rates in America.

Besides, you Leftards say violating the law to obtain guns is no big deal.

Most mass shooters had no criminal record before they went on their rampages... but a simple background check would have identified them.

Most of the sensible gun laws that CA passes are thrown out by the courts before they are ever implemented.

how do you identify them if they havent done a mass shooting??

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The shooting victims from over the weekend range in age from 13 to 57, representing various parts of the city, and the violence has some seeking new solutions.
South Lawndale residents met with police on Monday following a staggering number of weekend shootings.
At least 71 people were shot, nine of them killed, across the city from Friday evening to Monday morning, police said.

Why didn’t this make the MSM evening news last night?
Why wont this be on the MSM evening news tonight?

The media is quick to tell us all about a ‘mass shooting’ where 4 people are shot but no one killed, but the mass shootings that go on in major cities every weekend get nothing.

Doesn't fit the narrative, I suppose.
You're right America needs better national gun laws.

Every mass shooter had people in their lives who knew they were nuts.

If someone had asked any of those people, they'd have found out they were nuts, and rejected the gun application.

majority of the people in this country are nuts in one way or another,,

you would be the first person I would have locked up,,

using your logic if dems had control all repubes would be rejected and if repubes had control every dem would be rejected,,

Shrug. Guess those tough gun laws, like don't mean a whole lot, when criminals don't obey gun laws.
