I really don't know how else to describe them. They came in with a bunch of .mil Japanese swords/dirks.

I'm sure they are both modern but appear to be quality made.....No maker marks/names on either.

I got the bamboo pin out of the big one hoping to find a maker's marking on the tang but the blade did not want to move so I left it well enough alone.

The big one has a blade length of 11.50"....Super sharp.

The little one has a blade length of 4", made of Damascus steel and has a Scandi-grind.

Being japanese, I wouldnt think they would be worth much. Considering hand made japanese blades always have the makers name put on them.
Or maybe thats just how they used to do it?

The Japanese maker's mark is usually on the tang under the handle.

Success!

I applied a bit of blow-dryer heat where the bamboo peg went through and pecked the handle right off. There was rust (so it's carbon steel) and the color of the rust (dark brown) makes me think it might be older than I first thought.

I also found the maker's mark.

That mark is also hand-applied (note the tiny chisel marks) and not machine marked.
