Ashli Babbitt (killed J-6) Lawsuit Settled, Family to Be Paid Nearly $5 Million

Willing to be your life on it?
Going to trail the Babbit family would probably get nothing... Justifiable shooting...

The officer gave warnings, Ashley kept on breaking in... He had very little choices...
  • His job was to protect congressmen a few yards behind him.
  • The crowd had said they wanted to kill a number of them and even named some.
  • He couldn't wrestle her to the ground as there was a crowd behind her so he would be overrun.
  • We could ask why there wasn't a team of police there but their lines were broken.
The Police have plenty of precedent to find the court in their way. Look from a legal point of view and compare to other police shootings... Officer gave clear instructions, he even explained the consequences and Babbit was still rushing the officer...
If this was in downtown LA and the officer shot a black person rushing a police officer, you would be saying a justified shooting...

Trump Admin paid out in a settlement because any decent legal team would have got this dismissed. They could also be implications for the Trump campaign to answer how she thought Trump won the election.
The Babbit family could have had a claim against Trump or Trump Campaign... I doubt it would have won but the discovery and depositions alone would be highly embarrassing.

Do you think the National Guard should kill rock throwing rioters?

YOU TELL ME !
.
.

Two California Highway Patrol officers try to dodge rocks being thrown near the Metropolitan Detention Centre in downtown Los Angeles following last night's immigration raid protest.

Well, he should have gone for a head shot, but sure, why not.

She was part of an angry mob trying to get at Congress.

Why not shoot the angry mob trying to get at the police and National Guard?

If Ashli hadn't broken the law and climbed through a broken window after being told to stop by Capitol cops, she would be alive today.

Was the officer or anyone in danger ?

Mac...I got your name written down and will be following you around. The next time a white copper shoots a negro you better watch what you post. I'm going to be all over you !

don't worry illegal.webp

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Or that would be the spin if Babbitt were black.

The award is an admission of guilt by the federal government. When are we going to see an indictment on the Officer who pulled the trigger and the administration that justified the execution?

That's the problem, they did. Like shooting that reporter for shits and grins.

The problem is the protests started out peacefully, and the LAPD overreacted.

LOL!! That wasn't a deadly bullet as was used on 1/6. You seem to be ducking the question as you usually do.

He shot at a reporter who wasn't a threat.

Babbit was a threat to Congress.

Aren't the LA Riot rock throwers a deadly threat to the police/National Guard? Should they be shot?

Neat.

The fact remains, if Ashli hadn't broken the law and climbed through a broken window after being told to stop by Capitol cops, she would be alive today.

15th post
The United States Capitol building was under violent seige while Congress was gathered to perform the peaceful and constitutional transfer of American presidential power. Outside, overwhelmed Capitol cops were physically battling the attackers, and many of those cops would sustain serious and even permanent injury.

On the other side of the door in a small corridor in front of a small group of badly outnumbered officers was a violent mob pushing on the doors, breaking the windows, screaming, and trying to get in. If one gets through, that could open the floodgates.

What was the biggest danger in that small corridor? Directly behind the officers were the doors to the congressional chambers, where elected American representatives were huddled, calling their families, trapped in the building and fearing for their lives.

Amid the chaos, one of the violent protestors in front of the officers broke through a window and started climbing through. The attacker was ordered to stop and did not. An officer, with all of the above as context, fired.

Those are the facts. That is the context. This other noise is nothing more than standard anti-American, delusional, mal-informed MAGA cult fantasy and denial.

Who is responsible for her death? She is. Next is the person whose historically destructive lie about a rigged election placed her, in a manipulated rage, at the Capitol that day.

No, they wouldn't. They won the Trailer Park Lottery
Speaking of trailer trash, Rachel Powell was exhibit A of the kind of people drawn to Trumpism. Rachel has 8 kids, no husband and no job, but she found the time to join a riot and protest the government that feeds her and her brood.

I made it very clear. As long as they are following rules and the law.

I believe in the rule of law.
Byrd clearly violated the law. He needs to be prosecuted for murder.

If you were in his shoes, would you have shot that girl? Do you believe that was a reasonable use of force?
