As Expected, Trump's Incompetence Showing Bg Time

So says the Wall Street Journal

“President Trump will fire his first tariff salvo on Saturday against those notorious American adversaries . . . Mexico and Canada. They’ll get hit with a 25% border tax, while China, a real adversary, will endure 10%. This reminds us of the old Bernard Lewis joke that it’s risky to be America’s enemy but it can be fatal to be its friend.

Leaving China aside, Mr. Trump’s justification for this economic assault on the neighbors makes no sense. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt says they’ve “enabled illegal drugs to pour into America.” But drugs have flowed into the U.S. for decades, and will continue to do so as long as Americans keep using them. Neither country can stop it…

Mr. Trump sometimes sounds as if the U.S. shouldn’t import anything at all, that America can be a perfectly closed economy making everything at home. This is called autarky, and it isn’t the world we live in, or one that we should want to live in, as Mr. Trump may soon find out…

None of this is supposed to happen under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement that Mr. Trump negotiated and signed in his first term. The U.S. willingness to ignore its treaty obligations, even with friends, won’t make other countries eager to do deals..”

*************************I]

When you elect a dolt as President, expect him to make stupid decisions. This trade War with Canada and Mexico is just idiotic considering that it was Trump himself that renegotiated a new trade agreement with them only a few years ago.

Like everyone who has done business with Trump will attest: his word is garbage.
Nice job objecting to something that you didn't even touch the subject matter of. That's the way it is with a purely political post. All ideology and no meat in the post. Try justifying us spending 14 times as much in Canada as Canada spends here and 23 times as much in Mexico as Mexico spends here. No economist in the world is going to call that a fair trade.

HUH?

How many globalist elites support the right to bear arms, abolishing the income tax, and deporting 15,000,000 illegal aliens ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??
Hell, everyone everywhere should have guns and display them as phallicsymbols!!!!

Small hands guys rejoice

That’s your assumption. Not fact.

Even if it were true, it’s a piss poor approach to as yet non existent negotiation.

And it sends a loud and clear message to our trading partners.

It bellows that any deal with the Trump White House is inherently worthless. under Trump, the United States will not keep its word ,or honor its commitments.

The US cannot be trusted as a reliable ally or partner.
You claim that my post was assumption, yet, we have Trump's first 4 years as proof. Now, your post, was in fact complete hysterical rhetoric

Don't bother talking to a paid posting hack.
They're not interested in anything but promoting what they've been paid to promote. Chinese money dominates the media these days.
So naturally the message is going to be negative because China does not want to own up to its obligation to allow its currency unit to appreciate.
Oh I agree. My responding to the leftwing hacks here isn’t to expect any meaningful dialogue. It’s to expose their hypocrisy and stupidity.

The F150 is assembled in Canada.
You have no f'ing clue what you're talking about. Try a simple search before shooting your mouth off about topics you're completely ignorant of before you attempt to correct someone who knows that facts.

This is not a trade war, lol. This is bringing them to their KNEES, and we will-)

Tell me you have no idea how the NA auto industry works.
Companies have assembly lines in the US, Canada, and Mexico. All producing specific models. Parts for those assembly plants are manufactured all over NA, with some final components crossing a border up to 6 times before being put in a car. It takes time to tool a line for a model. Wheb a company completely ends a model, it can take up to a year to re-tool the line for a different model.
All those models and parts should be manufactured here.

PS. I've forgotten more about Just-in-Time automotive parts than you've ever known.

How can illegal immigrant "drain more from the system than they contribute", since there really is no welfare in the US except for ADC and disability?
But I agree too many immigrants can lower wages.

New York City...

"The mayor has said before that the federal government should bail New York City out of its illegal immigrant–induced financial crisis."

Link

How is the tiny amount of illegal aliens that New York receives compared to the border states causing a "financial crisis" if illegals aren't draining the system financial???

After dropping over 500 points from the high Friday, the Dow futures are down over 600 points now in response to the stable genius' tariffs. Tariffs that are inflationary.

Want to see this country skyrocket to totally unheard of levels of power and authority?
Eliminate payroll tax all together and go over to a consumption system. Keep the social security tax on the paychecks for everybody working here with the understanding that illegals will not get anything from it later on. The revenue will triple with that system and nobody will feel put out because nobody will buy something they don't want.
At that point you don't have to worry about immigration because everyone will have skin in the game.

Funny isn’t it. My view is closer to old line conservatism and you are closer to old line radicalism.

I believe in building our manufacturing base; I don’t beleive in idiotic trade wars against our allies.

I believe in Reagan’s Peace through Strength; I don’t believe in dumb wars.

I believe in keeping the Russians contained; I don’t believe in Russian expansionism and a resurgent USSR.
I just saw Trump on the news after asked about the tariffs and fentanyl.

He said China makes it and Mexico and Canada distribute. So what doesn't make sense is why Mexico and Canada got 25% and China only 10%. Seems like he would want it eliminated at the source. It can and will get into this country without Mexico and Canada.

Yep, just saw that and oil is up a little.

Nope,

Ford makes it a priority to manufacture their trucks in the U.S., therefore, each truck in the F-Series line was manufactured at either the Michigan or Missouri plants. There was a time when trucks for the Canadian market were made in Canada, however, they have since been moved to a U.S. manufacturing plant.
