That's really cool. It never occurred to me that I could make clay. I thought it took longer to grind and meld. I'd still really sorta like to know how long she let it set in that pit. Time lapsed doesn't give that information.

I remember a few decades ago, my father rented an industrial auger to make holes for a dock by the lake. The clay that came up was superb. I made some pots and ashtrays and used the wood fire method to fire them (as I don't own a kiln.) I should have not used a grill to do it in, the heat turned the wooden handle to ash. :lol:

It's a tradition passed down generation to generation for over 1,000 years so they worked the bugs out.

Even making a paper umbrella is a work of precision and artistry
