Are you one of the 97 million Americans that work for or depend on the Federal Government? You are now "up a creek".

Trump wants to cut the federal workforce. Who they are and what that means

It has been a confusing several days for federal workers: First came a federal hiring freeze, the announcement of an end to remote work and an executive order reclassifying thousands of civil servant positions. Then came Tuesday's government-wide email giving nearly all federal employees until Feb. 6 to decide whether to opt into a "deferred resignation program."

There are a total of 95 million Americans that depend on the Federal government for help. That is 1/4th of all Americans who would be affected in some way with the Federal work force being cut down.

It is a government spending-cuts thing, which is intended to solve some of the over-spending that is being done, but like everything that Trump does, it is an extreme solution that is highly likely to cause more problems that it solves. In addition, it is "My way or the highway" thinking that does not involve anyone other than Republicans for the decision being made.

Not only is it "over the top and extreme", but it is a dictator's approach to taking total power.

Our democracy is at risk of being lost.

I have never depended upon the government, except for my 6 year enlistment in the Army, and they also depended upon me.

I currently am retired and receive no government benefits, nor have I ever received any outside of my enlistment.

Usually the loudest detractors of the government are those who depend on it the most. Reminds me of a former acquaintance who gets a disability check from the government for a "wrist injury" from his time in the Army (never seen him show any pain in all the time I knew him) and he is literally pushing for a 100% rating. Hates any government Trump is not in charge of.

No.

I actually do real work and am productive.
So fuck the other 75% of Americans right?

How is it in a supposedly free-market, capitalistic society the Federal Government is the largest employer in the country.

This should terrify anyone with half a brain cell. This is the sort of shit that happens in Communist countries.

Good. There are far far too many sucking off of the public teat.

Nothing wrong with wanting to reduce the size of the Federal Government…….DOGE was a legitimate step
Analyze Government, find redundancies or unneeded functions. Eliminate those functions and the workers performing them

But a blanket removal of every employee without regard of the impacts is pure idiocy.

Trump trying to kill two birds with one stone?

Private sector short of help and big bloated gov't.?

Hmmm.

Fire a couple hundred thousand Federal employees and let them pick fruit and scrub bathrooms for the elites.

The elite lefties love the illegals as their SLAVES.

That is all the illegals are to the left. 21ST CENTURY SLAVES.

They wouldn't do it, they expect to work from home. What a disaster that was

Don't take the bait Federal workers. He'll stiff you like a contractor.
Trump had no legislative authority to make the offer he did.
He is making the resignations binding without anything binding his part of the deal

You quit?
Well we can’t give what we offered

Too bad for you

If the job you're doing is worthless or something the nation doesn't really need when we have trillions in the national debt, why are you getting paid?
