Are you in the Christmas spirit?

In a world eclipsed by evil, living a life surrounded by evil, and as a citizen of a nation boldly overtaken by evil, showing the shine (even the dullest glow) of Christmas spirit can make the most dreadful of people remember times before; five minutes later they'll be back to worshipping evil in glowing screens but what the fuck . . . at least their hearts started beating again . . . for a few fucking seconds.

um... what?

Usually, I am in the Christmas spirit, but this year the past few months have been really rough. My mom's sister passed away from brain cancer on Labor Day. My aunt's two kids are my most favorite cousins. Well sadly, their dad passed away on December 11th. My cousins were supposed to come to my area for Thanksgiving, but they ended up getting hit with Covid sickness at the beginning of November which caused them to lose their vacation ability from work. Because I thought that they were going to be here, I was lucky enough to have my vacation week from work be scheduled for the week of Thanksgiving too. Well both my mom and me ended up getting hit with strep throat on the Monday before Thanksgiving and so even if my cousins had been able to come here still, my mom and me being sick then would've ruined everything. Anyway, as you can probably tell by now, it has been one thing after another for me. My cousins are going to come here as soon as they can because I don't live far from where they want to place my aunt's ashes, but right now, I don't know when they will get to come here to east TN. They live in the Washington D.C. area.

P.S. My uncle's body was donated to science which is what he wanted done with his body.

sorry to hear about your losses.. I have been through a ton of those myself. Right now I am distanced from my family because.. actually, I don't know. They are just peculiar, is all... It would take all day and half the next to even tell the tip of the iceberg about those strange creatures... (laugh)

Anyway, they say everything happens for a reason, so maybe things will "pan out" for you. And frankly, as bad as this w orld is, death is not a bad thing most of the time, except for those left behind.. assuming the deceased were pretty good w/ Jesus and all...

^^^ Thank you. Sadly, my cousins were not close to their dad at all because of whatever his problem with them was. He pretty much looked at them as if they were the biggest mistakes of his life. Why? I have no idea and neither do my cousins and so losing him I am sure only makes them miss their mom even more. Maybe donating my uncle to science was a good thing. My guess is that when a body is donated, it gets cremated once nothing more can be done with it. To me, the nearest manure pile would be the perfect place for my uncle's ashes.

I help out in a local community acting group that puts on live plays at Christmas. We usually have lots parts for kids. It's a lot of work but it also helps bring out the Christmas spirit in me who, used to be a real Scrooge until they talked me into actually acting in their version of Scrooge. I was all three Spirits!! 3 costume changes too!! Future spirit was the most fun.

Thanks! Community groups usually appreciate volunteers. You don't have to act, they need stage hands, techs, 'grips' etc. That's how I started. I would have never have believed I would actually be acting in a play!!

there's nothing like that in my area that I know of, but if I move or whatever, I will consider volunteering. I have volunteered for many things in the past

No. I’ll be quite happy when it’s over. Hopefully we can get through the next 36 hours without any family drama or chaos on my wife’s side. THAT would be the best gift I could get.

Not in the Christmas spirit right this minute. However, in an hour or so our family will start showing up and we will have a nice dinner, go to Christmas Eve services and open presents and the kids will make sure all the adults are fully engaged in the spirit.
