I'm delighted with 3.8%, especially given the 1.9% of the last quarter of 2024 and the -0.6% in the first quarter of 2025.

You clearly don't understand that 3.8% in Q2 is the flipside of the same tariff distortions that depressed GDP to -0.6 in Q1.

1st qtr was down 0.5% and the 2nd qtr was up 3.8%. A big part of this is the increase in imports to get stuff during the 1st qtr before the tariffs hit that dropped the gdp number and a decrease of imports at 30.3% in the 2nd qtr which helped the gdp. The other surprising thing IMHO was the rise of consumer spending in the 2nd qtr at 1.4% higher, there has been some scare talk about inflation and a possible recession so maybe people stocked up on some stuff while the getting was good. So, the 2nd qtr numbers were better than expected but there's still a lot of anxiety out there cuz nobody knows what Trump is going to do next. I think a lot of businesses are kinda in a wait and see mode which frankly ain't good for prosperity cuz it's hard to plan too far ahead. And IMHO it's hard to celebrate much right now.

Cool narrative, but the reality is trump time cleans obama's clock without covid.You certainly didn't check or you would have posted. So the average under Biden was 3.2% and 2.3% under Trumps first term and was the same as Obamas.

Trump's first qtr. 2025 is by most logic Biden time - GDP was half a percent in the red.....
The recovery caused inflation. If Biden has to live with the inflation Trump has to live with the economic and job impact. That's why both were kind of fired (lets consider Biden's handpicked successor losing as him being fired). They both got blamed for the parts that happened under them. You are your record. Trump's record is starting off slow, if not retracting.

Well if by “most logic” you mean complete disregard for GDP growth components and their reasonable causes, then sure.
A surge in imports was a key factor in the Q1 GDP decline, as companies and consumers bought goods ahead of tariffs.

It was over before it even started. In a way, I'm happy about that because, the truth is, Trump was way, Way too much of a pushover in his first term.
Some of his appointments were mind-boggling, some of the people he had around him were so far into the Deep State it was astonihing. And he had no clue. He really didn't.
Trump wasn't prepared to be POTUS. Even he said he didn't expect to win. Nobody did.
I could go on and on but the truth is, I'm glad he lost the way he did.
