Can you be a patriot if you donÂ’t know what a patriot is? Here is the definition of patriot. It is a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.
At least 99% of Americans who claim to be patriots get angry and emotional against having any attempt to learn what happened on 911 unless it fits what they want to hear. Some of them get angry any time their behavior is challenged about anything at all. They claim to be correct about everything they do and every thing they claim to know. They donÂ’t want to be proven wrong no matter how much they would benefit from learning they are wrong.
The American media pounds out constant statements that claim America is the best country in the world. Why would millions of people from all around the world want to live in America unless it really is the best country in the world? There are other countries that have many attractive opportunities for their citizens too but there is no other country that can match the growth of immigration to America.
To refuse to recognize that America has been completely changed by the Reagan Revolution is a major problem. Reagan himself was the greatest proponent of patriotism. ReaganÂ’s primary goal was to defeat the USSR in the cold war by a spectacular building of military hardware especially the building of missiles and the facilities to store and launch those missiles. America had the credit to be able to borrow massive sums of money to be able to outspend the USSR.
Finally the USSR went broke and collapsed. Reagan won the cold war and America could have had the peace dividend. That dividend was supposed to mean that America didnÂ’t need to keep borrowing massive sums that would be spent building more military hardware but military buildups in America are considered to be patriotic. Any citizen who suggests NOT building more weapon systems is called disloyal, unpatriotic, a socialist, a communist, and a Marxist.
