I stay out of Walmart when I can. I do use Sam's a lot though for the cash back thing which isn't really cash back rather credit on your membership card once a year. Anyway, I find that aldi and lidl and sam's combined have pretty much everything I need most days. I have a 50 year supply of toilet paper so I am good on that. I stockpiled this time last year and am starting to do it again this time this year in anticipation of that British strain shutting crap down again.

I was at one last wed. They had no meat,dairy,eggs. And were low on pet food, kids clothes and furniture ( shelves,desks,tables,bar stools etc...) all things they normally carry.

Kroger store nearby had about 15% empty shelves when first "the virus" became fashionable. The normal stuff - toilet paper, nose tissue, bleach, cleaning supplies. Then sugar-free items disappeared. I would guess they carry less markup than the regular items. Beans, both dry and canned; rice all gone. Then it started easing off and it's down to about 3-4% empty shelves. Most of the items that had gone missing are now back though at exhalted prices.

About a week ago the shelves started emptying again. Either people are stocking up in preparation for the next wave and a national lockdown or the stores have learned that contrived shortages allow them to "bring back" stuff at grossly inflated prices.

Or both. Either way when you get your next tranche of "free money" think about converting it to durable goods you'll need longer term or perhaps sell at extortionate prices to those in need. Like they do at the big on-line "stores".
