Are We Nearing The Eve Of the Impeached President trump’s Coup d'état?
Many observers—including Republicans—worry that we are. They have been organizing during the past few months to stop him. Unfortunately, it would appear there efforts will be too little, and much too late.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is complicit with Moscow Mitch and his Republican Senate Majority in their manipulation of the impeachment process, which put the impeached (but acquitted) president trump in a position to use the extremely willing conservatives he appointed to the USSC to assist him in taking control of the United States’ Government.
Harvard Law School professor and former solicitor general under Ronald Reagan, Charles Fried watched, as did most Americans, while camo-wearing, heavily armed federal agents invaded Portland, Ore., to attack BLM protesters, These federal agents were just following orders from the impeached president trump.
Fried explained he was frightened by what he was seeing, because it reminded him of “the use of paramilitaries by fascist leaders in 1930s Europe, where he was born, and he feared he was now witnessing a slide into paramilitarism in the United States.”
Having been with his family while fleeing the Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia, “Fried felt that President Trump was using the Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies in a way that was ‘very menacing. You might as well put brown shirts on them. It’s a very bad thing.’”
For the impeached president trump’s devoted fanatics, Fried’s subtle warning is falling on deaf ears. But Fried, who is also a Republican and a board member of groups such as the Campaign Legal Center, Checks and Balances, and Republicans for the Rule of Law, is not alone in his concerns for the survival of our Democracy if the impeached president trump’s intended November coup d'état is successful.
“Fried, a student of history who chooses his words carefully, has concluded that Trump and his team are ‘certainly racist, contemptuous of ordinary democratic and constitutional norms, and they believe their cause, their interests, are really the interests of the nation and therefore anything that keeps them in power is in the national interest. Does that make you a fascist? It kind of looks that way, doesn’t it?’”
The former chairman of the Republican National Committee, Michael Steele shares Fried’s conviction that the impeached president trump is a threat to the Republic. However, Steele believes the impeached president trump’s devoted fanatics are “more about naked political opportunism than any grand fascist ideology.” Sadly, this has blinded them to their cheeto-in-chief’s actual goal of becoming dictator.
During President Obama’s eight years in the White House, Rush Limbaugh took control of the Republican Party using hate-speech, racism, bigotry, misogyny, and xenophobia to inflame the GOP’s rank-and-file voting base. Candidate trump built on Limbaugh’s work to increase the anger and hatred seething in his burgeoning cult.
The impeached president trump’s takeover of the Republican Party has Steele really pi$$ed off. Steele, has some idealized vision of a “genuine Republican”, and believes the impeached president trump and his devoted fanatics are kicking these “genuine Republicans” out of their political home. “As Steele piquantly puts it, ‘I come into your house and shit on the carpet. I tear down your drapes, write on your walls, offend the people who live in the house. Do you leave or kick my ass out? I don’t know anyone who leaves their house without a fight. What kind of America, what kind of country do you want? What kind of leader do you want?’” It seems, the impeached president trump’s plan for an authoritarian dictatorship is, currently, looking really good to his devoted fanatics.
It’s apparent, the decades the GOP spent cultivating the feelings in their voting base of being victimized by the poor, the people of color, non-Christians, ambitious and powerful women, foreigners, illegal aliens, liberals, progressives, educated “elitists” etc. opened the door for a well-practiced, lying conman like trump to tap into that anger and hate. He didn’t takeover the Republican Party, the party’s strategists handed trump their well-trained (brainwashed) voter base to him as a gift.
“This summer, Fried, Steele, and other devotees of traditional conservatism began coordinating with fellow anti-Trump conservatives around the country, as well as with progressive organizations, to strategize responses should Trump attempt to maintain power despite rejection at the polls. Some participants formed the Transition Integrity Project, which includes campaign experts such as Michigan Democratic ex-governor Jennifer Granholm and Democratic Party consultant Donna Brazile, along with Steele and other old-guard GOP stalwarts. They fear that if mail-in votes are still being tabulated weeks after the election and—as seems increasingly likely—barrages of lawsuits are filed by the candidates’ campaigns, conditions could be ripe for Trump to create maximum mayhem.”
The Republican Party leaders from past decades to the present have no one to blame but themselves for the problems caused by the impeached president trump. State level Republicans’ voter suppression laws were eagerly welcomed by national level GOP leaders. Their unethical, do-everything-possible-to-win political shenanigans seemed like a great idea, up until a few months ago. Now, with the 2020 Presidential Election a few short days away, those happy times thinking about how the GOP was screwing the Democrats aren’t such pleasant memories.
If the impeached president trump’s coup d'état is successful, we’ll see how long the happiness lasts in his devoted fanatics. It’s quite likely, the police state that was supposed to rid their country of the many destructive intruders might not be the conservative utopia they had envisioned.
Naturally, the impeached president trump’s devoted fanatics will give this OP a “thumbs down”, or a laughing Emoji, or some other way of saying the OP is wrong. We should all hope it is one of the extremely rare occasions when the RWNJs are correct.
