Names like Hungary, Italy, Switzerland do not have this possessive meaning.
And since all nations are now considered free and sovereign, wouldn't it be better to get rid of this heavy imperial legacy?

First question? How does one GET RID OF A LEGACY/HISTORY? Simply redefine it? All history is important.......attempting to hide from it results in nothing but IGNORANCE. If you do not know history........you are doomed to making the same mistakes made in the past. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly must remain for the benefit of the future.

Why? The only ones that appear to be upset about labels are the one's that demand LABELS be removed by "relabeling" them according to their free will, a will that's always in the minority. What about the 99% that are totally ignorant of the sins of their fathers and are satisfied with living their lives IN FREEDOM under the current label?

Question? How is the demand for a NEW LABEL promoting freedom? Its not.......its promoting FASCISM under the guise of political correctness. When any minority forces their will upon the minority........the only result possible is despotism, dictatorship or glass rule via an "Oligarchy"......every class ruled over by those who self profess to be ELITE. There is no such animal as a "TYRANICAL MAJORITY" in a free republic.....as its the majority that establishes all the social mores' and reflect those mores' in LAW. There is not one right........civil or otherwise that is not the direct result of a MAJORITY ratification process in this republic called the United States of America.
