I've always found that right-leaning topical entertainment falls flat at humor but excels at hate and division (Limblob, Hannity, Wacko Jones) while left-leaning topical entertainment falls flat at hate but excels at humor (Stewart, Colbert, Maher, Bee). And when either one tries to mimic the other's model it just doesn't work.
