From my personal experience, the full tuition paid by non-American students helps float the tuition assistance for qualified, but merely middle-class, kids .... who are actually interested in an education and not prog causes.

Colleges should accept the best applicants. Simple. And since international students generally don't qualify for financial aid, the colleges get the full tuition up front, in cash. You know they like that. If an international student gets here and does something stupid like committing a crime or supporting terrorism, then out he goes. The vast, vast majority do not.

No the students don't hurt the US students. It is the international teachers that hurt. I had several professors that I could barely understand a word they spoke. That was a big pain in the ass.

That was an opportunity for you to learn. Communication is a two-way street. A lot of kids show up at college without ever having extended interaction with anyone who didn't sound exactly like momma or Uncle Bob.
