Are American colleges hurting Americans by so many international students?

China? the EU? doubtful.
Fine with me. Let’s get back to encouraging our brightest and most capable to reach their potential - rather than hold them back to be more fair to the weaker students - and we can get smart Americans to take the spots.

The numbers are staggering. NYU is about 50% foreign, and Ivies like Columbia and Harvard - with major antisemitism problems and a lot of Arab funding - are about 25%.

Given 1) how many of these foreigners hate the country and oppose its foreign policies and 2) how difficult it is for Americans, especially whites of middle class backgrounds, to get in, isn’t this unfair to our nation’s youth?

1. Increased demand means higher prices. We just identified one of the factors to the insane rise in tuition.

2. And yes, this does sound like a contributer to a shitty environment for American students.

3. And beyond price, with this level of foreign students, the need to provice decent service to American students, is gone.

This...is a fair argument, at least for public universities.

Colleges and universities want the best and the brightest. They don’t care where they are from.

Exactly. THey don't care if someone is a deserving AMERICAN student or a foreigner who can pay and requires less support.

This denies American citizens access to an AMERICAN education facility, because FOREIGNERS are using it instead.

Depends what you think the purpose of college is.

If it's to be diploma mills that give white folks their ticket to the middle class, then yes, you might have a point.

But if their purpose is to encourage scholarship, then they should be admitting the best and brightest from around the world.

So foreign diploma mills are okay?

If the foreigners are better students, why shouldn’t the universities take them?

They’re funded by America, located in America, and their purpose is to - or should be - to prepare the best and brightest Americans for a successful future.

Letting in hordes of foreigners with an anti-American, and lately anti-semitic, attitude is not to this country’s benefit.

Ivy League colleges are private institutions.

If the foreigners are better students, why shouldn’t the universities take them?
Because a “better student” is not the university’s objective. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be fighting to keep affirmative action and diversity as priorities.

And you think all the pro-HAMAS foreigners at Columbia, as one example, are “better students”? Nope. They are selected to meet the left’s agenda.

If the foreigners are better students, why shouldn’t the universities take them?
They are not taking them because they are better students. They are taking them because other nations can pay.

Every university in this nation has one criteria.

The bottom line.
