Nah. We both make lists and we mark off what we don't like that's how we got the list we have now.

BTW one of my most respected mentors was brought up by Southern parents
who regularly said racist things about Black people we don't say today.
She made a conscious effort to think and be different, and was the most
spiritually open person anyone ever met, she understood everyone instantly.
I remember Jean telling me how her parents were, and talked, and how she
went out of her way to learn to be more openminded. She ended up running a school
for kids with special needs, and never turned anyone away. She even tutored a kid
Cassius (you can guess the rest) who was denied assistance because school lawyers
BLOCKED the court order by appeal to hold up the funds until he would already be out of
school so they wouldn't have to pay it -- spent years teaching him for free where the school
failed because he needed the help.

Odium if you like that story, remember "Cassius" and his commitment and support it took to get through school despite a system that refused to help him. And I will tell you more stories about Jean that you could teach your son about the importance and the future of education, what it used to be before the current school system mucked it up, and what it should be where Jean stepped in and taught other teachers and parents how to help their kids through the maze and nightmare it has become)
So just because people's parents aren't perfect doesn't mean their kids
can't be better people. The whole point is to outgrow and break the patterns
of the past. And I certainly hope what
Odium and you and me gain on USMB
is the ability to COMMUNICATE ACROSS POLITICAL LINES (including racial issues)
and MAYBE we'll leave a better environment for kids and the next generation of leaders.
