Anyone else getting hit by the credit card fraudsters more lately?

I got hit this week. Several charges in two cities where I was not at. Restaurants and Curb charges.

The card was canceled and a new one is on the way.

Try this. I block all those callers but the first time I answer and they go into their spiel, I say, "Just a moment",Then I raise my voice a bit and say loudly, "Hey Jim, tell the sheriff he has a call on line 2." click.....mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Several years ago I got a phone call, lots of static, hard to hear. From my "grandson" arrested in Mexico. Desperate to pay a bribe to get out. My answer "Billy, you know I never liked you. This might teach you a lesson."

My folks told me when I was a teen--"If you find yourself in jail, don't call me to go your bail." I got busted for pot in 1972--I didn't bother calling home. Spent a week in the San Diego jail, paid my fine and then called home to let them know I was out--They already knew what happened--they co-signed for my car and it was impounded. Their first question was--did you get the car out yet? LOL Teaching responsibility--its a wonderful thing.

Last year one day I started getting a shit load of calls from angry people demanding to know why I called them. I must have received 500 calls.
I didn't make any of them.
Apparently they can SPOOF your phone number so all their scam calls are credited to YOUR phone number.
In turn, your phone number gets added to all kinds of blacklists.
Then they move on to another number.

I swear ALL this fraud, spamming, spoofing and fraud gets exponentially worse when Dimocrats are in power.
It's almost as if Dims are helping it somehow.

During the lock down I was getting a lot of calls from "Microsoft ". My computer has been reporting viruses. My son was home so we scammed them. "There must be something wrong because you have reached a Microsoft tech center on an internal number. You will have to speak to my supervisor." I handed the phone to my son. We had endless fun threatening the Mumbai call center.


My daughter-in-law got the worst. Scammer pretending to be a police officer with a warrant for her arrest. He's on his way down but could be persuaded to take a bribe. He wanted $5,000. He was so realistic that she was reduced to tears. No he didn't get money. Instead he got someone recently released from Atascadero Hospital for the Criminally Insane. And very hungry.

I haven't ever bought anything on-line in over a decade. Last time I had my identity stolen I traced it back to Pay-Pal, so I quit using that.

I had a few problems with Amazon, so I have only used pre-paid cards on there a couple times, but have had a couple orders end up getting stolen or go missing, so I don't even bother doing online commerce at all anymore, I would rather just support local merchants. The whole online commerce thing for me, is just a sour experience, that once I got rid of it out my life, I experienced much less stress altogether. My bank account is blocked from online banking, as are all other forms of online crap.

So, I will get notified about that.

I am worried about our government, like every other government on the planet, once this war in Russia, and the war with China is over, switching to a global CBDC.


Thieves have a harder time taking hard currency out of your pocket. Central Bank Digital Currency? Thieves, and the government, can take anytime they want. IMO, it is coming, I don't know how we are all going to resist it.

My wife is, three different credit cards in the last two months. One of them was a string of charges for some ride service similar to Uber, in the UK. As usual, the credit card companies void the charges. I'm guessing that with the global economy getting shaky, scammers are working overtime.

The Wife and I went through the same thing a year or so ago.
Everytime we turned around we had another card that was compromised. It's a total pain in the ass!!!
Once the scamdemic started the Wife wouldnt go to the corner store because it would fill up with mexican yard workers at lunch time,we also bought gas there frequently.
Low and behold after we stopped going there all of the compromised cards stopped.
