Another round of auto tariffs just went into effect. They could change the industry forever

So in other words, they limit our access to their market to allow only so much in as to not cause any distress to local producers.

That is not fair and level trade.
from their standpoint per population they should not need much of our dairy, canada does not have dairy farms? I don't know how high before the tariffs kick in but they need to curb their demand apparently or make more domestically.

funny many moons ago in college I worked in a dairy dept and with the exchange rate they would buy many cases at a time, probably a bakery. I was not far from the border, hell I'd get a phone call to special order 4 cases, 36 pounds each! that's a lot of butter

Well, I'm sure I also don't need French wine, I can buy wine made in New York, but that still does not stop me from wanting French Cabernet Sauvignon. I can buy cheese at the local supermarket, but there are many cheeses made in Europe I would prefer.

yes and it's likely there are no tariffs on either of those. we have anti-dumping rules and so do many other countries, steel and copper are a big one for us
the french will sell us as much wine as we want but at a cost, supply and demand
many cheeses that are european are made here, do you know the travel time from the EU to the USA for cheese? yes with cold temps, hard rind it can get here and not be spoiled unless you fancy a specific brand and it will cost you

Some are, some aren't. Ya gotta be careful when shopping. I've had a TT that was that way, but the 2012 S8 was almost trouble free for years. I have never owned anything with the VW badge on it though.

Tariffs are charged by our government to foreign companies.
No, Son. We have told you this over and over and over, the tariffs are paid by the importers, not the exporters. Nobody is charging the Chinese company anything.

The US government cannot tax foreign companies.

They can only tax you.
