Let's try an example that even a Trump cultist can grasp.
If someone says "The sky is green" on the internet, I don't disbelieve or believe that based on that statement. I look at objective facts, and base my decision on that.
You, on the other hand, would check to see if your party says the sky is green. If it did, you would use the statement on the internet as proof that TheParty was correct.
