Angry UNIONS announce HUGE blow to Democrats--Obama

With the money confiscated from these union members to fund Democrats, I have always though would be better invested in benefits for the union member, such as better retirement plans, better unemployment insurance for bad times and better health and dental benefits, but oh no, it has been used to fund the democrat party.

How are all you private sector union members feeling about that now?? If you are laid off, is your union doing anything for you?? Or are they still using your money to fund Democratic campaigns.

Basically you are right, better to invest in members. Problem is, in a capitalist society it requires you play the DC game to get legislation to protect union members. Just letting a republican be gov. of Wisconsin cost unions a lot of money to fight, that would have been better spent on dental and pensions, etc.

I have always thought that way, my brother works for a construction company, he is a union member, has been laid off plenty of times, yet the union does nothing for him to help get him and his family through the hard times, he is not a democrat, yet his money goes to fund a person that he won't vote for.

I am glad I am not a union member because that's just not right.

Yep..

I'm shocked the unions don't make him vote democrat.

There has been plenty of instances of that..... Discrimination against non-progressives.

The funny part is these retards, like the head of the AFL are constantly bitching about discrimination.

In a huge public blow to the electoral fortunes of both President Obama and the Democratic Party, the president of the AFL-CIO said Thursday that organized labor is preparing to ditch Democrats and go it alone in building up its own grassroots structure.

Specifically, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka told reporters that the nation’s largest labor federation will scale back their involvement with the Democratic Party in advance of the 2012 elections.

In 2008, unions spent over $400 million for Obama's election. Asked if the AFL’s move is a huge blow to Obama, Democratic pollster Doug Schoen told Newsmax.TV: “Absolutely. Obama needs to get labor back and I think he’ll be courting them furiously in the weeks and months to come."

While Trumka had nothing but scathing words for the tea party movement, he laid out a scenario that very much mirrored the tea party’s grassroots structure and its clout in the GOP. The vision is for big labor to wield the clout that it once had inside the Democratic Party and on the liberal end of the spectrum in American politics.

Trumka made it clear that his plan will cost the Democrats both contributions and labor volunteers in many districts almost immediately. That would cripple key Democratic get-out-the-vote efforts in many swing districts on Election Day.

“We’re going to use a lot of our money to build structures that work for working people” Trumka said, according to Politico.“You’re going to see us give less money to build structures for others, and more of our money will be used to build our own structure.”

Trumka’s remarks came after the news earlier this week that the AFL-CIO will set up a so-called super PAC to spend unlimited amounts of money on political activity for next year’s elections and beyond. Trumka confirmed Thursday that the union is moving forward with plans to create the PAC.

The AFL-CIO’s outside effort will help keep union-backed candidates more accountable for promises made on the campaign trail, Trumka said.

“Let’s assume we spent $100 in the last election,” he said, explaining the union’s position.

“The day after Election Day, we were no stronger than we were the day before,” said Trumka. “If we had spent that [$100] on creating a structure for working people that would be there year round, then we are stronger.”

Trumka also said that many labor leaders are weighing whether to skip the party’s 2012 convention.

Angry Unions Sever Ties With Democrats, Obama

I just can't believe it took this long for unions to server ties with Obama. This is the most anti-business administration in a 150 years--

At Last!! This marks the beginning of the Socialist Workers Party in America. I said beginning, in the first seed toward that end. As the two party's alienate workers, they will gather for self-preservation and to gain power to fight corporations agenda. This final phase will lead to the SWP of America. This is good news.

Yeah, socialism has worked so well everywhere else it's been tried:cuckoo::cuckoo:

The unions will try to flex their muscle with the dems, problem is there is no money, no one has any, and you can't sqeeze blood out of a turnip. And we are all turnips with this Joke's agenda of wrecking the American economy.

Oh, man. This is funny stuff....

...do you have an inkling of an idea of where unions invest their pension funds?

Fill in the missing blank:

_ orporations' stocks.

Prove it......................with some of that HAHAHAHAHAA............funny stuf!!:disagree::bsflag:

"Some of the largest pension funds in America today are public employee and union pension funds. Most of these funds are managed on a contract basis by private investment houses such as Alliance Capital, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Solomon Smith Barney. Very few are managed in-house.

According to the Federal Reserve Board, public employee pension plans alone had nearly $2 trillion in assets as of September 2004. Overall, 54.8 percent of these assets were invested in corporate equities, 36.1 percent were invested in fixed income instruments (such as corporate and foreign bonds), with the remaining funds in cash or other investments. Sitting down? OK...only the simpletons who are trained to hate business are left with your viewpoints.

In reality, everyone benefits when business profits are high.

SO....you have the vapors???

There is going to be panic in the streets over this one, all those Democrats that are up for re-election rely " heavily" on the unions for funding and support- there goes their gravy train. I wonder when they are going to run a primary against Obama, like Kennedy did with Jimmy Carter.

They may be thinking that one over right now--they still have time.

The President will do kissy face and come up with a few Jesse Jackson catchy rhyming little phrases to suck up to these guys and they will swoon and make a little messy down their legs like Chris Mathews.
Then the unions will support this President because they know he will come up with some Slush fund to pay them back in the form of some bogus jobs bill just before election day.

This jobs bill is designed to give the people hope that this President is looking out for them and it gets him re elected and before anyone realizes it's not doing anything Obama is back in the WH and will coast the rest of the way during his second term.....

Obama may have been able to do that a year ago--but with Republicans controlling the house--I doubt--the unions are going to get what they want--which was the card check that they were promised. Those days are long over. Now their biggest concern is jobs, jobs, jobs that the President promised and didn't deliver.

What I think is going to happen now--is you will see Democrat politicians who are running for re-election in 2012 distancing themselves from Obama. That's the only possible way of them surviving this--otherwise they will be voted out along with Obama.

Sabre rattling.
you are correct!! but why are they sabre rattling ?? is it fear of the grass roots movement that is sweeping this country??? will the unions start making concessions to protect themselves from the negative economic impact that Obama ,the EPA,and socialized Health care are making on Job growth and business ?? and will Dems in Washington follow !! :eusa_eh:

The fact that Unions are pulling away from a President for not fixing the system for their favor is pretty disgusting. It does not matter if you're on the left or the right you should be able to see the corruption Unions have added to the system.

Of course if you're on the left you could always try and imagine what it would be like if the Republican nominee picked up the Unions support and was handed 70ish million during the GE by Unions... Maybe then many of the left would see why Public Unions have become the succubus they are to our country. Makes you should wonder how much they don’t pay their beloved employees when they have that much capital sitting around that Unions can just dump tens of millions of dollars on a single person. Now try and figure how much other money is used in the states to buy congress/senate people by these Public Unions, not just the President once every 4 years.
perhaps the Unions got a peek at his jobs plan that is going to be released next month !!

Maybe? In my recollection--I don't remember unions going after democrats like this?

I thought it was interesting that the head of the AFL--CIO was critical of the tea party--but wishes the unions had the same kind of grass roots movement--:lol:

When the unions are all gone people will be happy. Then all the middle class people can work for alot less than they make now. No health insurance, no sick days, roll it right back to the days when the factories purposely sacrificed their workers. When the unions are gone the so called BS american dream goes totally down with it. But people will have to hurt badly first in order to figure it out. I'll be gone by then but for my kids sake at least I have versed them well on how not to be taken advantage of by their employers. If you feel mistreated at all, walk out...without notice.

Bullshit, your dumbass is spewing 70's propaganda, labor laws are stringent enough these days that unions aren't needed......

and 100 major companies refuse to donate campaign monies to Congress and the Executive branch until they come up with a long term debt solution.

Getting the formal support of the unions has proven to be an albatross in recent years. Unions have been demonized and as a result businesses have basically won the wage/benefit battles to the point they now call the shots. You should be happy.
I see you skipped wash and rinse, rushing right into the old spin cycle.
This is what happens when the people who got someone elected don't get paid back in spades.

Unions have been squarely in the democrats pockets for decades. So much so, the democrat party takes union support for granted.
Unions will never allow the rank and file to support the GOP. With that in mind the scenario which comes to mind is a split in the democrat party.

In 2008, unions spent over $400 million for Obama's election.

Holy fuck, 1 Special Interest Group, that represents only about 22% of Americans. Gave 400 Million to one candidate in 1 Campaign.

And you fake outrage liberals complain about Cooperate Donations.

Unbelievable.

Yes, the Screen Actors Guild. Your point?
