While Ellis Island gets all the attention as gateway to a new life in America for millions of European immigrants in years past, Angel Island, off the West Coast, is unknown to many today. Many tens of thousands of immigrants passed through Angel Island (after long detention). Many left behind unique reminders of their experiences there.
