None other than the New York freakin' Times is now reporting that Iran has "retaliated" by firing 6 missiles at a US military base in Qatar.

Except, did they actually retaliate?

There were no injuries/casualties, and not even structural damage.

Turns out, Iran went ahead and used the exact same play book from the LAST time Trump bombed them - killing their top general in Jan. 2020.

They warned us of the strike in advance so we could prepare, and they could save face to their own people claiming "RETALIATION!"

there were signs that Iran might have been looking for an off-ramp to the conflict, even as it targeted the base despite warnings from the Trump administration not to retaliate for the American bombing over the weekend.

There were actually 14 missiles.

President Trump said on Monday on his social media platform that “in addition to no Americans being killed or wounded, very importantly, there have also been no Qataris killed or wounded,” in the Iranian missile attack on a U.S. base in Qatar. “There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was ‘set free,’ because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction,” he wrote in another post.

I'm still subscribed to his YouTube, but I find myself watching it less and less.

Iran knows they are outgunned and aren't very popular with their own citizens. They need a narrative to promote domestically "we unleashed a barrage of missiles at the Great Satans army"! It will appease enough of the hardliners there without invoking a response from the U.S.

Yep.

It made no sense to me that we would kill their top general 5 years ago - when their military was far more lethal and their proxies throughout the region were dangerous - and they pretty much did nothing.

But THIS time, with no control over their own airspace - a depleted military/leadership, and no nukes - THIS time they would bury us.

People get taken in by the "NEWS", we saw it all throughout COVID.

Mass delusions.

Critical thinking classes should be required in our schools.
 
Also "Symbolic retaliatory strike" may be one of the dumbest phrases AND things that I have ever heard in geopolitcs.

its very telling that Iran and its proxies launched over 150 attacks against US bases in the region during the Biden admin .. with no warning ..Iran knows that there is no longer a weak left wing admin in the WH ..
