Introduction
The man who attacked Paul Pelosi, the husband of Nancy Pelosi, was just sentenced to life in prison. One of the most bizarre hoaxes we’ve ever seen was built around this attack on Mr. Pelosi, and it is my intention to show just how bizarre and stupid that canard was. Many here still subscribe to it, and will skip this topic because it is hard to accept oneself was so easily rooked.
And that’s fine. They will never admit their credulity. But they know in their hearts they were duped.
The intention of this topic is to delineate how critical thinking works, which can lend a framework to deconstruct any future hoaxes.
Critical thinking skills have been nearly made extinct in this time where every mendacious jackass has access to the entire world from his couch.
There is an aphorism which goes, “A lie is halfway around the world before the truth gets its pants on.”
This is a variation on a theme written three centuries ago when the fastest communication was by sailing ship. In today’s modern world, a lie travels all the way around the world thousands of times before the truth can get its pants on.
Even more disadvantageous is that a lie can be created in a few seconds, while the debunking of that lie takes a great deal of time. Then another lie is quickly layered on top. And then another. And another.
Therefore, my posts are going to be necessarily long and in several parts. I apologize ahead of time, but they should be enlightening.
